Swedesurvey wins another contract in Rwanda after the successful implementation of the National Land Use and Development Master Plan project. Swedesurvey has signed a contract regarding consultancy services for urban planning for Nyamagabe and Rutsiro district centres. The Client is Rwanda Housing Authority under Ministry of Infrastructure and the consultancy services include:

• The preparation of the Urban Development Plan of the towns of Rutsiro and Nyamagabe,
• Developing demonstration and test operation of a restructuring plan identified as priorities for the towns of Rutsiro and Nyamagabe and the plan of subdivision of a resettlement site.

Rwanda is still a low urbanized country and has now a unique opportunity to set the standards for sustainable urban development. The next ten years will be crucial if Rwanda will be a success story in this respect.
