The project "Development of National GIS Standards and Guideline for Ethiopia" carried out a study visit to Sweden during 12th - 22nd of June. The group consisted of eleven participants from the Ethiopian Information Communication Technology Development Agency and Prime Consultants Plc.

Swedesurvey together with their local Ethiopian partner, Prime Consultants, was awarded an assignment to support the Development of National GIS Standards and Guidelines for Ethiopia. This study visit was the initial stage of the said assignment and aims to take part of Swedish experiences in implementing strategies for efficient data infrastructure as building a background to prepare the vision and objectives for implementing Ethiopian GIS Standards. 

In additions to many fruitful discussions together with Swedesurvey and Lantmäteriet, the group also had meetings with professor Anders Östman at Gävle University, the Swedish Standards Institute, the Municipality of Gävle, the Swedish Tax Agency and the Swedish Elks.
