On the 6th-7th of April there was a Sino-Sweden Seminar on Cadastral Management arranged in Beijing, hosted by the Ministry of Land and Resources and Lantmäteriet. During his Keynote speech Vice Minister Wang Shiyuan emphasized the importance of improved cadastral management in China for economic development and social harmonization in the country. He also pointed out that improvement of cadastral management is in line with Chinas new five year plan.

Several topics were covered during the seminar, for example “The Swedish unified land and property registration” and “Cadastral information system and the social services based on property registration system for China and Sweden”.

In my point of view there is no doubt that both countries have a lot to learn from cooperating with each other.

Around sixty delegates from the Ministry of Land and Resources, provinces, major cities, Lantmäteriet and Swedesurvey participated during the most interesting seminar. From Swedesurvey, Mingyu Wang, Chief Representative China at our Beijing office, and myself, participated together with our Joint Venture-company from Hebei province, GeoIntech.
