As a result of Swedesurvey’s institutional development project with the Hebei Bureau of Surveying and Mapping (HBSM), a multi-purpose mapping system was established in Hebei Province in China. In another programme of cooperation with HBSM, where the services provided by Swedesurvey focused on transfer of knowledge and providing training, an urban management information system, which included a large geographical database, was designed, constructed and implemented in the cities of Baoding, Handan and Qinhuangdao. In addition, Swedesurvey GPS experts assisted HBSM in the design and establishment in 2009 of a permanent GPS reference network comprising 30 stations covering Hebei Province.
