Swedesurvey carried out a capacity building project to modernize the administrative and financial systems for the Municipality of San Salvador in El Salvador. Swedesurvey provided cadastral experts, a taxation expert and a process reengineering expert. These consultants contributed to the proposal for a new municipal tax and recovery structure for municipal services, the modernization and integration of the municipal cadastre and a proposal for redesigned decentralized processes. In addition, Swedesurvey co-hosted a study visit to Sweden for a group of high level officials from San Salvador. When the project entered a second phase Swedesurvey provided an expert to lecture on GIS.
