For over a period of more than ten years Swedesurvey conducted a land registration project on behalf of La Unidad Técnico-Jurídica, UTJ-PROTIERRA of the Ministry of Agriculture in Guatemala. Swedesurvey advised on the development and implementation of a cadastral and land information system, on methodology for cadastral surveying and registration and the elaboration of a draft cadastral law and technical standards and a new geodetic datum was established. Advice was given on the drawing up of technical specifications for aerial photography and orthophoto mapping and, in a pilot project, cadastral maps were adapted to the new geodetic datum and information updated and digitized.
