Swedesurvey was awarded the contract for an EU financed project “Policy Support for Land Consolidation in Romania”. As well as providing a number of short term consultants, two full-time members of staff were stationed in Romania for the duration of the project. After pilot tests of the methodology in three villages, proposals were elaborated for, amongst other things, a draft law on land consolidation, a valuation model for agricultural land and a retirement scheme for farmers as well as a land consolidation plan for the entire country. In addition training and public awareness activities were carried out.
