Start-up workshop for the IGIS II project at Department of Surveys and Mapping (DSM), Botswana

The start-up workshop for the Integrated Geographical Information System II project was conducted at Grand Palm Hotel in Gaborone 06 – 10-12-2004. The aim with the workshop was to lay the foundation for a three-year implementation plan for the project. 25 participants from DSM representing senior and middle management as well as technical experts attended the workshop. The start-up workshop will be followed by an inception workshop in April 2005 were the three year implementation plan for the project will be agreed upon as well as the detailed first year implementation plan.

The main project Objective is that:

“The Department of Surveys and Mapping shall have integrated cadastral, geodetic and topographic databases in place which facilitate the provision of geographic information for cost-effective use in society. At the end of the project, the Department will have established standards and the design for all spatial databases and elaborated efficient systems for data dissemination and data capture”.

Swedish - Russian Workshop on Business Process Modelling

Eight experts from the Russian cadastre agency Rosnedvizhimost are visiting Swedesurvey 21 - 28 November, 2004. The objective is to discuss and elaborate business processes to be used within Rosnedvizhimost and between Rosnedvizhimost and other organisations within the real property sector in Russia.

Swedesurvey AB signs a three-year contract with the Department of Surveys and Mapping (DSM) in Botswana for phase II of the Integrated GIS Project at DSM

The Department of Surveys and Mapping has selected Swedesurvey AB as the consultant for the phase II of the Integrated GIS project. The project objective is that

“The Department of Surveys and Mapping shall have integrated cadastral, geodetic and topographic databases in place which facilitate the provision of geographic information for cost-effective use in society. At the end of the project, the Department will have established standards and the design for all spatial databases and elaborated efficient systems for data dissemination and data capture”.

Swedesurvey AB is very pleased to have been awarded this important project, financed by the Botswana Government, thus further strengthening the long co-operation between the two organisations. The contract value is approximately 20 million SEK.

High level Delegation from Russia

A high level delegation from Russia is this week studying “Real Property Information Infrastructure in Sweden and Lithuania”.

The visit is within the framework of the 3 year Russian-Swedish Land Administration Programme in which technical assistance is provided by Swedesurvey.

The delegation represents the three main actors in the Russian real property sector, i.e. Rosnedvizhimost, the Federal Rights Registration Service and the Federal Taxation Service.
