Swedesurvey has been awarded a contract which has the overall aim to develop a strategy for information management and IT configuration regarding land administration issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The project will begin in December 2008 and is estimated to continue for six months. It is our belief that in order to provide wise advice it is essential to have a very good knowledge of local circumstances and to be able to work very closely with the client; in this case the Federal Ministry of Justice and their appointed workgroup. The team has, therefore, been carefully composed. It will be led by Mr. Seho Zimic, who not only has graduated from the Department of Geodesy at the University of Sarajevo and worked in Bosnia for 14 years but has also held a number of different positions within Lantmäteriet. The core team also includes Mr. Miro Govedarica as the IT expert and Mr. Mujan Amir as the cadastral expert. In addition, a local lawyer will also be appointed. There is a back up team at Swedesurvey prepared to provide support and participate in larger seminars or workshops.

Swedesurvey is delighted to have this opportunity to work with issues of great importance to the future of the country.

The Department of Surveys and Mapping in Gaborone, Botswana has been running an integrated GIS project for some years with the assistance of Swedesurvey. The systems developed within the IGIS project were launched at a ceremony in Gaborone in November 2007.

The systems require maintenance and Swedesurvey has been awarded a short-term contract to secure the IT environment to ensure that the systems will continue to run problem free. The contract was signed in Botswana on 15th October 2008 and will run until 31st December 2008.
