A reliable, functioning cadastral system based on a solid
legal foundation is one of the corner stones of a market
economy. In many countries, which lack or have an incomplete
land administration, there is a great need for training
and competence development.
Training courses
For many years Swedesurvey has organised regular
training courses for specialists in many disciplines.
Staff from organisations in more than 80 countries in
Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America
have participated in the courses.
Theory and practice
The courses contain both theoretical and practical
components. This gives the participants, who include both
managers and technical staff, opportunities to implement
theory with the help of modern technology.
A dominating theme of these courses is the development
of modern cadastral systems, and Geographic Information
Systems (GIS), including surveying, registration, valuation,
legislation, land-use planning and computer-assisted systems.
Swedesurvey also arranges in-service courses and on-the-job
training in different countries or in Sweden. These programmes
include surveying with modern methods, digital mapping,
GIS, Land Information Systems (LIS), cartography, data
base management and remote sensing.
A well-established name
A major cadastral programme in Russia has been
given considerable attention by the international media.
Within the framework of this programme Swedesurvey expertise
is assisting with the development of cadastral legislation.
